Describe your childhood: |
Christene: My childhood was full of lots of family, aunts, uncles and cousins. I felt plenty of love. My mother passed away when I was 2 so my grandparents raised me.
John: My father was in the military, so our family moved a lot when I was a kid. However, at every place I made new friends. My mother and father were always around to help me with homework and life problems.
Tell us about your home?
We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home in a quiet neighborhood. Our lot is on an acre so we have a big back yard for a child to run and play. We have a 20,000 gallon, fenced-in pool as well just waiting for a child to swim and laugh all summer.
When you have a 3-day weekend, what do you like to do?
Normally we spend time with family or friends. We like to cook out and have people over or we go to their house. Depending on the weather, we take out our 4-wheelers and ride as well.
Do you have pets? If so tell us about them?
Yes, we have 2 dogs. Both of our dogs are mixed breeds. One of them was a gift for John's birthday from our nephew. He is a Min Pin/Chihuahua named Zeus. He loves to cuddle and thinks he is our child. Pokie is a complete mutt that we saved from off the street. He was in very bad shape when we found him, but now his is healthy and about 40-50 lbs. He is very playful.
What do you hope to teach your children?
We will teach him or her to be respectful and courteous to everyone. We want our child to to be his/her own person and to do well in school so that when he/she grows up he/she will have many life opportunities available.
Describe your neighborhood?
Our neighborhood is very quiet. Everyone watches out for everyone.
What will you tell your child about their birthmother?
We will tell our child that his or her birthmother is a very courageous person who wanted the best for her child.
It's Daddy's day - what activity do you want to share with your child?
Depending on the time of year, we might go hunting, go ride 4-wheelers, do yard work, or just play.
What kind of education are you hoping to provide for your child - Private or Public?
How did you come to the decision of adoption?
After several years of marriage, we were not blessed with children. We felt empty. We always have nieces and nephews and 2nd cousins over, but we always have to send them home.
What faith will you raise your child?
When he/she is old enough we will sit down and talk about it. John was raised in the Catholic church, but is not Catholic. Christene was raised Pentecostal, but she has not attended in a while.
What kind of a relationship do you hope to build with your birthmom through her pregnancy?
We would like her to know that we respect her very much for her choice.
How did you meet?
We met when Christene moved to Texas with her grandmother and father. We dated for 2.5 years before we were married.
What was your relationship with your parents like?
Christene: Christene lost her mom when she was 2, but her father was around with her grandparents. Her relationship with the 3 of them was great.
John: As a young child my relationship with my parents was great. I did sports and they where always there for me. In the last 3 years my relationship with my father has been strained, after the death of my mother.
What attracted you to each other?
Our personalities. We could talk to each other easily.
Please describe your personalities:

When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms what are your thoughts regarding the birthmother?
I will feel that she is the bravest woman in the world, and I love her very much for what she has given us.
How will a child enrich your life?
A child will gives us the opportunity to share our love. We know there will be good times and bad, but we want to experience all of it.
Why did you each choose the career path you decided on?
Christene: I had a cosmetology license; however, after having carpal tunnel surgery it was no longer an option. I just sort of fell into my current job.
John: I loved chemistry in high school, so I majored in it in college. When I graduated I became a Elastomer Chemist, but always had a knack for figuring things out so I became a manufacturing engineer. I recently became the manger of the department I am in now.
